Each year, we take great pride in sponsoring a cause that is very close to our hearts. This cause holds personal significance for us because it is connected to Life founder Ann Willmington, who was diagnosed with a brain tumour and given just 18 months to three years to live. In the face of such devastating news, Ann sought out Dr. Charlie Teo. Under his care, she underwent three surgeries, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy, and thanks to his expertise and her determination, Ann was given a second chance at life.
We have known Ann and her family for many decades, which makes our involvement even more meaningful. When we founded Nepean Valley Funerals, we were honoured to become sponsors of her efforts to fight brain cancer. Ann has channelled her passion and energy into raising awareness and funds for brain cancer research, and one of her initiatives is the annual Music for Life gala ball held in Penrith. This event has become a beacon of hope for many.
In 2020, due to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the ball was unfortunately cancelled. However, Ann didn’t let that stop her; she organised a successful Radiothon instead, which we were proud to support. Every year, we continue to sponsor this cause and have had the privilege of meeting Dr. Charlie Teo, who speaks passionately about brain cancer research. His work and dedication are truly inspiring.
